The suspended walkway is reminiscent of a child's jungle
gym with a bridge that bounces and sways, but this one
is 70 feet from the ground.
The Walk in the Treetops at the Whitefish
Mountain Resort is a perfect adventure for those seeking
a unique experience with a touch of excitement.
While we don't recommend this excursion for those afraid
of heights, the emphasis on safety and the construction
of the course itself make the suspended trip across the
forest floor just a hair shy of carefree. And the Walk
in the Treetops isn't just about the elevated
boardwalk. There is a short hike through the forest and
across a stream, with stops along the way to learn more
about the area's flora and fauna, as well as a few
surprising insights into one of Montana's major
industries, timber harvesting.
There is also a self-guided interpretive tour along the
boardwalk itself, with a large viewing platform midway
for enjoying the sweeping views of the Flathead Valley.
At $54 a ticket the cost may seem a bit tall, but the
heights you'll reach are unforgettable, as this adventure is the only walk of its kind in the
United States. |
