Pets are only allowed in drive-in campgrounds, along park roads open to motor vehicles, and in picnic areas. Pets must be on a leash no longer than six feet and under physical restraint or caged.

GOING-TO-THE-SUN ROAD
5 out of 13 campgrounds in Glacier are located along the road; Apgar, Sprague Creek, Avalanche, Rising Sun, and St. Mary

Logan Pass USUALLY open from mid-June to mid-October, weather permitting (of course)

Construction delays will be limited to 30 minutes total for a one-way trip across the road. In late September and early October delays up to two hours are possible. These times may change, check with the Park Ranger at the entrance for the most recent information.

From June 15 through Labor Day, the following sections of the Going-to-the-Sun Road are closed to bicycle use between 11a.m. and 4 p.m.: From Apgar turnoff (at the south end of Lake McDonald) to Sprague Creek Campground Eastbound from Logan Creek to Logan Pass.

GETTING HERE

Plane: Glacier Park International Airport (FCA) in Kalispell, Montana. It is located 25 miles from the park's west entrance. It is serviced by Delta Airlines, Horizon Air and Northwest Airlines.

Train: Amtrak's historic Empire Builder route  follows the southern border of Glacier National Park. It stops at East Glacier, Essex, West Glacier and Whitefish. The Whitefish train depot is also the home offices of GlacierAdventure.com!

7-Day Automobile/Vehicle Permit

Single Vehicle Pass - $25.00
Entrance fee for all persons traveling in a single, private, non-commercial vehicle (car/truck/van).

7-Day Single Entry Permit
Single Person Entry - $12.00
Per person entrance fee for a visitor traveling on foot, bicycle, motorcycle.

Glacier National Park Annual Pass
$35.00
Valid for one year from month of purchase. Does not cover camping fees.

Tour Groups - Commercial Vehicles
Entrance fees are based on the seating capacity of the vehicle (driver not included).

1 – 6 passengers: $25.00 per vehicle plus $12.00 per person (16 years of age or older)
7 – 15 passengers: $75.00 per vehicle
16 – 25 passengers: $100.00 per vehicle
26+ passengers: $200.00

WEATHER
Daytime temperatures can exceed 90 degrees F
Overnight lows throughout the park can drop to near 20 degrees F.

Snow can fall at anytime!

Prepare for many different conditions and pack accordingly. We have started hikes in shorts and a t-shirt, and had long johns and jackets on by the end of the day! Dress in layers. Always bring raingear.

 

SEEING GLACIERS

Jackson Glacier Overlook affords the best opportunity to see a glacier from the road. Jackson Glacier Overlook is located on the east side of the Going-to-the-Sun Road between Logan Pass and St. Mary.


VEHICLE RESTRICTIONS

Vehicles, and vehicle combinations, longer than 21 feet(including bumpers) or wider than 8 feet(including mirrors), are prohibited between Avalanche Campground and the Sun Point parking area. Vehicle and vehicle combinations over 10 feet in height may have difficulty driving west from Logan Pass to the Loop, due to rock overhangs.
